Leafy Sea Dragon
The leafy sea dragon (Phycodurus eques) look much like seahorses but is actually more closely related to pipefish. Their leafy appearance allows them to perfectly blend in with algae in the reefs they live in, relying on camouflage to avoid being eaten. Like seahorses, the males fertilize and care for their young but the eggs are carried under their tail and not in a pouch. They survive by filter-feeding in the reefs off the south and east of Australia.
